The Art of Mario Portelli

Giants are those who are capable to play their own and proper way amid giants' very feet!!

Collective Art exhibition participation- June 2008

The annual Malta National Trade Fair is with us again. Every year the Malta Society of Arts participates with great interest in this event by inviting its members to expose their latest work. Mario, for the first time is going to exhibit his latest work which takes you back to the World War Two era.

He shows the spirit of the locals, trying to do their utmost to live among the destruction all around them. Suffering daily from air bombing attacks which were eventually overwhelmed, the people of Malta where rewarded the George Cross (the second highest rank) by King George the sixth, for their bravery. A reward which the  national flag displays.

All this, Mario found the inspiration to produce such work and titled it...'The George Cross People'!

News after the exhibition.

Thousands of people turned out to the Fair. Most of them had other purposes rather to see the Art exhibits but most of times many visited the premises and left with positive and encouraging feedback.

The organizers committed themselves, that for the next event there will be more and much better publicity and also better premises.

For Mario's work, the general public praised his ability towards artwork. They where completely surprised for all the accurate details which Mario had included in his work. Elder people who experienced the turmoil of last World War who turned out at the fair where completely surprised to see such work and who evidently showed great interest towards Mario's work.
